CEO Note: February / March 2012

What are your plans?

Did you make a New Year’s resolution? How are you going with it? Have you given up already or are you still powering through with it? There’s a saying about the best-laid plans…Anyway, if you’re still keeping to your New Years plans then I wish you well as mine went out the window by the 3rd of January!

Anyway, we have some big plans here at BC Advantage for 2012. We’re keeping mum on the plans for now but I know that you’ll be really happy when we start rolling out the new features and products that we have in the pipeline. Watch this space!

I would like to thank those who contributed topic ideas to our online survey throughout the months of November to January. We received a wonderful range of suggestions and we have now distributed those ideas out to our editorial board and hope to bring those suggestions to fruition soon. Congratulations to Pam Denison, the winner of the $50 Target gift card for the November to January suggestion time period. I hope that you’ll put your thinking caps back on and contribute to this issue’s survey and go into the draw for another $50 Target gift card.

So, what do we have for you this issue? Our cover article, Business Continuity written by James Summerlin takes a look at what happens when external factors affect your business. It’s definitely food for thought.

Obviously with the New Year brings new codes and updated information so we have two articles focusing on that for you. Raemarie Jimenez, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CANPC, CRHC has written about the CPT Changes for 2012 and Peggy Blue, MPH, CPC, CCS-P is updating us on the 2012 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule.

Other articles include - Tales of a Coder, Part IV where Bob (our aspiring coder) tells us about a hiccup that he has encountered along his new career path. There are a couple of articles on ICD-10 (always a hot topic!) and Alice Scott and Michele Redmond have written about modern marketing techniques for billing companies. We also have a review on the book that they have written about the very same topic so be sure to check it out.

Anyway, I hope that your year has started off with a bang and that it continues to be what you want it to be.
