Industry feedback desired for PMSAP during 60-day public review period through Feb. 10
The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC)a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body for organizations that electronically exchange healthcare data, announced today that the first draft criteria for its newest accreditation program is now released for public review and comment. EHNAC seeks interested parties to provide opinions, comments and suggestions with regard to the necessity, appropriateness and workability of the Practice Management System Accreditation Program (PMSAP) criteria proposed for adoption.

The open process for adopting criteria will last 60 days, commencing on Dec. 9, 2014 and ending on Feb. 10, 2015. Visit www.ehnac.org for more details or to review the latest EHNAC criteria and submit feedback during this comment period.

The EHNAC criteria for each of its accreditation programs sets the foundational requirements for measuring an organization's ability to meet federal and state healthcare reform mandates such as HIPAA, Omnibus, ARRA/HITECH, ACA and other mandates for covered entities and business associates focusing on the areas of privacy, security, confidentiality, best practices, procedures and assets.

PMSAP has been designed to serve as a third-party review and provide an additional level of assurance to the provider community during the evaluation process of PMS system vendors. Additionally, the program will provide a review of the PMS vendor readiness to support and implement ICD-10 in 2015.

The program was jointly developed with the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI). In addition to WEDI and EHNAC, the PMSAP advisory committee that has been working on developing and refining the draft criteria of the program includes executive representatives from AdvancedMD, the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC), GE Healthcare, the Healthcare Administrative Technology Association (HATA), the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), Medinformatix, NextGen Healthcare and more including other major national provider associations.
