William Rogers will be a resource for healthcare providers with additional concerns about the transition to the updated medical coding system on Oct. 1.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has selected William Rogers as ombudsman to oversee the new ICD-10 medical coding system, which takes effect, Oct. 1, FierceHealth IT reports.

Rogers is currently an emergency room physician and director of CMS' Physicians Regulatory Issues Team.

CMS announced Rogers' appointment during a national call for healthcare providers along with the news that its new ICD-10 Coordination Center will open in Baltimore at the end of September, FierceHealth IT reports.
