ICD-10 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR CMBS® CERTIFICATION
Date Posted: Thursday,
November 05, 2015
Many of you have asked if MAB will require you to take an exam showing ICD-10 proficiency. MAB will not require an ICD-10 proficiency exam, however, to assure a basic knowledge of ICD-10 each Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS®) will be required to submit a minimum of 6 approved Continued Education Units (CEUs) on the new code set for your 2016-17 renewal. If you already submitted 6 approved ICD-10 CEUs in 2015 then you have met the requirement.
Next year when you submit your 12 approved CEUs, please include a note stating ICD-10 training was completed in 2015 along with a copy of the ICD-10 CEUs. Without indicating that you have submitted the 6 approved ICD-10 CEUs, you could be putting your CMBS®
certification in jeopardy.
If you have taken MAB's ICD-10 online training, you will NOT have to submit anything further in regards to ICD-10 training, as your hours have already been documented.
