has anyone here used The THERAPIST software? i'm looking at going out on my own and like that it has a scheduler included. the place i work now is using a program the owner wrote, it's main bone of contention. i'm also not that familiar with billing. how hard is this program to use?

I'm not sure how active this forum is.  I'd prefer if a user or someone familiar with our program posted their experience before I jump in.  What type of practice/what's your specialty?

I have a provider a few years ago that used this software. A bit on the Antiquated side, slow and not great reports. She wasn't terribly unhappy with it but she wasn't thrilled with it either.
IMO these specialty billing software have too many limitations. I've worked on a lot of mental health specialty software's and all were a great big disappointment. Also it is a good idea to go with a company a bit more well-known so that you can network with other users and get more opinions.

Just my 10 cents

Thanks for your comments.  Did you actually work with the program, or is this as you remember?  Without knowing the particulars, addressing two points; when one complains of it being slow, it's usually because of the computer it's being run on.  As for reports, the client profile is the one we hear the most complaints about, and that's largely due to how many fields there are.

I'd love to know which reports, in particular, your provider found lacking.  We're pretty good at trying to address issues brought to our attention by our users.  We've created several versions, because people have asked for simplicity.  It should be noted that about 50% of our licenses are owned by solo practitioners.  These are doctors and therapists who aren't billing specialists. So theres definitely a learning curve, in general, on doing your own billing.

Janice... will you be doing your own billing, or are you also planning on hiring support staff?
