Practice Management Software

January 31, 2006 @ 11:25 PM Reply  |  Email Friend   |  |Print  |  Top

Hi.  I have been evaluating all the practice management software that I can find but up to now, was not able to decide.  I hope someone can recommend something.

I would need the standard patient registry and billing plus the ff.

1.  Line item posting of payments.
2.  Audit trail
3.  Daily Close (batching)
4.  Very comprehensive report
5.  Notes that can be seen when you go into that specific date of service
6.  Very organized viewing of charges which includes the date it was billed, paper/elec, the next dates it was billed, who billed it, notes re the charges, and a system generated reference number for the visit.

All opinions are appreciated.

Currently - we only use the BillingMD side (not the OfficeMD or OfficeEMR sides).  For the Billing portion - it starts at 0.5% of what you post in collections.  This fee includes ALL upgrades, tech support, enhancements, remote access, etc.  NO additional/hidden fees on anything.  There is a monthly minimum fee though ($195 I think?).

Feel free to ask questions - i've been using it for a couple years now (was with a different PMS for 3 years prior).

Hey thanks Randi.  I hope you don't mind me asking but do you have yahoo messenger?  I would like to talk to you more.

Re the software, it would have been nice if they included the patient registry and scheduling w/ billing MD or OfficeMD should have been a package of everything except EMR.

I "think" that when you get OfficeMD - it INCLUDES BillingMD.  Contact MOST re: that.  But i'm pretty sure that it's a step-up system.

1. Billing MD
2. OfficeMD (includes #1)
3. OfficeEMR (includes #1 and #2)

I have yahoo IM...i'll emai you my ID.

Randi :)

Unless it's changed since I demo'd it, ClaimGear doesn't meet with most of the specifications Shadowlady requires.  There is no audit trail, and if I'm understanding her correctly about the notes being visible, it won't do that, either.

Could be...i've never used it ;)  Just know it's popular in the billing world :)

Hello Shadowlady,

I worked for a billing service as a billing specialist for 5 years. We used a software company, PracticeAdmin.  This software has everything you are requesting, at an affordable price.  I am now employed by PracticeAdmin as a customer service specialist.  I would encourage you to go to and request a free demo.  Also, if you have specific questions regarding the software or billing, please call me at 888-294-9255.

Try a demo of Practice Manager X3.  I believe they provide what you are needing.  You can view the software at or give them a call and ask them (800) 652-3500.

I was looking into the internet based programs. Has anyone used AdvancedMD? I do not have much money to purchase software. I did look into some others but not as user friendly. Thanks
