Medisoft.  But check out www.mbpros.com--you can obtain complete access to Medisoft software without having to buy the Medisoft software!  And you can set up multiple practices in Medisoft.

Instead of setting up a wide area network you should look at some web or internet based software packages.  All you need is an Internet connection at the computer to use the software from home, office, work, etc.  I use claimgear.com, but there are a few others out there that are comparible.

Before you jump on any medical billing software, research them.  There are several out there and Medisoft should not be your first choice.  When I was looking for a software, there were differences.  They may be cheap, but I do have some concern regarding the technical support, the amount of cd's you have to purchase.  I do not remember all that I found, just get the MOST for your money and not just the cheapest.  Medisoft also owns two other billing softwares so do your research.

Don't buy the first one you see (unless you have looked at 3 others).

Make sure that the person demos the software for you and can answer your questions.

Make sure that the support personnel have experience with billing and know the industry.

I have used almost every software out there, Medisoft, Medical Manager, IDX, SoftAide and DAQ2 & 3. They all have great qualities but I must say so far the best software for the money hands down has been DAQ. It is user friendly, cost effective and runs exceptional reports espically for Multi practice. It is also web enabled which allows you viewing capibility from anywhere, the docs can have this downloaded at home. My docs love that.

There are many products that relate to Practice Management.  The benenfit is customized products that ensure that the patients gets bills, the insurance is filed and subsequently managed from the accoutns receiviable point of view and that you may answer quesitons to patients on the status of each of their encounters at the practice or clinics they visit.

Yes, go to our website, log in and register, then load the trial version.  I would recommend that you load the version with data, so that you can have good examples to work from.  If you choose to build a database, you probably know this will take longer to acheive the results that you may be looking for.

You may want to try MedLook from www.remsys.com.  It functions like MS Outlook, multi-user, multi-database/practice.  Easy and affordable.

Try taking a look into ClaimGear.  Internet based, unlimited support, updates and training.  Low start up cost and great for a growing a business.  And most importantly one of the easiest and user friendly softwares available on the market.

No I haven't but I am already using ALtapoint and like it a lot but am looking for possibly a new more effecient way of posting payments such as auto post in which ALtapoint says they are coming on with in this new version that just came out with but hasn't shipped but am a little weary of the claims so far.

Another great program to look into is the Sammy System.  Its a little expensive but extremely user friendly.  There are no hidden costs everything is right up front.  The support staff is extremely knowledgeable and with that system you can check eligiblity instantly for medicare as well as they tell you if the patient has an Medicare HMO or if the patient has met the deductible. CalMed is phenominal program.  I am a medical billing/coding instructor and have used MANY programs.  This is by far the easiest one that I have ever used.  It practically does the work for you.  You name the program and I can tell you about it- that is why I recommend this one.  It's inexpensive, custom made to fit your needs when necessary and without a doubt user friendly.  The program has been around for a long time but the beauty of it is that the designer, programmer and owner is the same person.  he will do whatever it takes for you to succeed.  Call them today.

Hi Amanda,
I use a great system that autoposts Medicare really well. It also prints the secondary claim form as well as the Medicare EOB  email me for anymore information.  Wth the system you can also autopost medicaid, UHC, and soon Aetna, it prints out the patient bills/coinsurance/deductible automatically.

Will your patients protected health information be safe and secure in a LOCKED facility off-site from the office?

Who will be responsible for securing and protecting your patient's private health information?

If you have a catastrophe in your office, such as a theft, fire, flood or other unforeseen act of God, will your vital information, that's critical to your business operation, be safe and secure 24/7 through any internet connection?



When you need help or support from your software vendor, will they have competent staff available to answer you questions quickly and professionally?

Will you receive answers to your questions within a minute or two when you need help or support from the company?

If you do have to pay for support, what will the cost of the support be?

Will you have to sign a long-term service or support agreement?





What will your hardware costs be?

Will the new software require you to purchase new hardware, and if so, what will you be required to purchase?

Will the software be easy to learn to use?

Will the software have all of the features that you need and want for your particular practice?

Will there be time-saving and cost-cutting features built into the software?

What is your current claim rejection and/or denial rate (for those of you with existing practices)?

Would you like to have no more than 5% denials or rejections, guaranteed?

Joe: I am solo ophthalmologist, I do have 2 offices, and I am looking for ASP model. Will I be able to manage so as to run seperate reports. I just downloaded and will check it out.

First, this is not a sales pitch.  When looking at billing software I would recommend looking for the following:

1.  Does the software that you are choosing fit your needs to your clients and any future client endeavors that you plan on targeting?

2.  Does the software support EDI such as ANSI claim files with automated sending and receiving?  

3.  How long has the software company been in business?  You dont want a fly by night outfit that lacks the proper experience and may not be in business for the up and coming years.  

4.  How is their support?   This is very important since if something bad happens will you get the help you need to maintain your cash flow.
