I certainly wish I lived in those areas.  I have been billing/codng for more than 20 years, and have worked with all of those except podiatry.  If you ever need someome in the Arizona area, I would be tickled to work with you.

I am semi-retired Microbiologist with a Clinical Microbiology/Medical Technology background.  I have a Master Certificate In Coding and Medical Billing. I passed the AAPC Medical Coding Exam and I am Certified by the American Medical Billing Association as a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist.  I did work as a Coder for the VA last year for 5 months.  As you can see I have adequate Academic training but no real practical experience in Medical Billing.  I would like to work from home.  In addition, I have work for years with computers, especially Microsoft Office, and I am quite familiar with Web Design and HTML.

I feel that I would quickly learn and become very proficient in practical Medical Billing.

I look forward to your response.

My advice to all:

If there is an opening for a position, it is usually filled quickly.  The original posting is almost a year old.

What I do recommend is posting a separate and new message, advertising yourself. This way it can be seen by all and you are not tailgating on a message that may never be read again.

Last,,,DO NOT LOOK AS THOUGH YOU ARE SO DESPERATE!  Post your own personal message and then wait to see if there is a response.  It would help to let people know the following:

1)  Your training such as where you received it, your standing in the class and your final scores on the test.

2) Your Certifications such as what they are and who they are with.

3)  What are you looking for - Coding, Billing, or both.  If billing, what can you offer such as A/R recovery, insurance verification, insurance only billing, patient billing, etc.

4)  If you want to work at home, how prepared are you.  Do you have everything to do this such as software, office supplies, equipment, licenses, enrollment with Medicaid and Medicare as a billing agent, etc.

5)  What specialty do you want to work for.  NEVER LIE that you know a specialty when you don't and DO NOT USE THE FORUMS TO BE TRAINED IN THAT SPECIALTY.  BE HONEST!  There is nothing worse than a liar who says they know the specialty when they don't.  If you are willing to lie about this, what else will you do that may be illegal.

6)  Where are you located.  It helps if you live in the Orlando, Florida area, to advertise for the Orlando aea.

7)  DO NOT post your resume on line. It is very unprofessional and a sign of desperation.

8)  Post a means for someone to contact you such as a free Hotmail or Yahoo address. You can use this to correspond and to send your resume to the person requesting it.  Do NOT give out your phone number. Do that via an e-mail correspondence once you receive notice of interest.

9)  Make sure your resume is true, accurate and complete. There is nothing worse than spelling errors, gramatical errors, and incomplete information.

10)  Have a list of references available in case it is requested.  You may not have any experience, but if you underwent training, your instructor could provide you with a letter of recommendation.  I do this with my students, but to earn this letter, they must attend all classes, turn in all homework, and they must score an A or B as a final class score.

Last - be patient.  If you want to work at home, make sure you have a business plan, compliance plan, a plan of what to do in case you take vacation or leave for emergencies, your enrollment with Medicaid and Medicare as a billing agent, EDI agreements, how much you plan to charge if accepted, and everything else you need in case the provider asks.
