Hi everyone,
Is there much hassle or extra work involved, if you bill for a client outside of your state?
I live in Calif, the client is in TX.
Thanks

No, you just have to make sure that you know the rules for that state and the different Ins. companies.
Good Luck,

There's no problem, like said above you need to study the other state laws. You can get remote access software and you can network with your out of state client easier. You probably will have to get an 800 for patient calls, they will not call long distance to talk about their bills

Hi Lisa / Traci
Thank you for that information. Does anyone know where I can find the state laws. Need it for Texas.
Much appreciated again.

Hi Sarah,
As far as "state law" goes, you will want to be familiar with the "Texas Prompt Payment Guidelines" which now provides provisions for HMO and PPO's.
Other state considerations would involve knowing how to handle Medicare and Medicaid claims for the state of Texas for the type of provider you will be handling.
You can find detailed information on the "Texas Department of Insurance" website located at: http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/index.html
