Need to clarify codes frequency. Welcome MEDICARE code G0402 - IPPE. Lifetime Frequency is 1 after enrolled in Medicare (Within 12 months). This has no diagnosis requirements. So If we used dx as Z00.00, Then after 12 months for annual physical code G0439 is used. Is it correct ?? We can not use G0438 ? ( because G0402 / CONSIDER AS Initial preventive physical exam?)

2) G0402 doesn't have to be very first visit after enrolled in Medicare. Right ? We can perform anytime within first 12 months. Please confirm,

Thanks

Sam

You must use G0402 within the first 12 months of a patient coming eligible for Medicare part B. You do not have to use specific dx codes but Z00.00 will be fine. After the G0402 is used, you must wait at least 12 months and you must use G0438 for the next AWV code but if the patient does not come back within that second year for an AWV, you will use G0439.

G0202- initial code first 12 months (does not have to be done as first visit at office)- one per lifetime
G0438- second year code one per lifetime
G0439- third and subsequent years
