Question, can you bill for new patient e/m code when the patient has been referred by their pcp for bone density test cpt 77080 for screening or health reasons for osteoporsis. Our physician specialize in rheumatology. She thinks we can bill new patient e/m code for patients who are coming back for full evalution visit.  I thought we could not go back and bill a new patient charge,  since a claim was previous billed by the same physician and same provider number, even if it was just billed for bone density procedure. Is that true? Where can I look for guidelines on this matter is it listed on trailblazer medicare website ? Our office is located in Texas.
