Acceptable diagnosis for vascular ultrasound

Does anyone know if Medicare will pay for a unitlateral or bilateral lower extremity ultrasound (93971 or 93970), using diagnosis code V15.1 (History of surgery to heart or great vessels)?  Our physician has recently started doing a six mos ultrasound check following each EVLT procedure.  Would this be the correct code to use, since they should no longer be symptomatic?

Thanks!

I would suggest you review your LCD/NCD for your carrier and see what DX's are acceptable for those procedures.

Medicare typically will not pay for a "V" code.
