For a diagnosis of acute blood loss anemia secondary to acute upper GI hemorrhage and duodenal ulcer, would you code it
532.4 duodenal ulcer with hemorrhage
285.1 acute posthemorrhagic anemia?

I put in 285.59 and it says it's an invalid code and it's not in the coding book.

Oh, you mean a coding manual, we dont use them, we use a cheat sheet developed by our CEO.  That is what we are told to use. It seems to work, so thats what we do.   Im not a coder.  Im a self taught biller.
