I would like to become certified in medical billing, but there are so many options.  I have looked at a CMIS through PMI, a CMBS through MAB, a CBCS through NHA, and a CMRS through AMBA.  Any input on any of these would be helpful.

Thanks

Kristie,

There is also the CPMB through the Professional Medical Billers Association.  I tell my students all the time--in my view, the more certifications, the better!   get them all :-)

There are other questions you want to ask but you first need to know what your goal is. There is NO National Certification. Certification should be about the education behind the course..NOT about putting letters behind your name.
I've seen courses out there WITH offers of certification and unsatisfied people who took them, likewise I have seen GREAT courses without certification.
What is your ultimate goal? Who will be looking and evaluating these certifications?

If you are looking into classes it's also a good idea to contact your state dept of education to see if they are endorsed or accredited.
