What is the ideal educational facility?

Hello, I am 56 years old and soon to be divorced. I am considering entering the field of medical billing and coding. I have several options available as well as a wide range of tuitions. I realize that OTJ experience is extremely important and that it can be difficult to get employment after completing any courses/education.

I am hesitant to explore online training. Any suggestions would be welcome.

There is an 80 hour classroom course taught at Northwest Missouri State "Medical Billing and Coding". Cost is $1800.

There is a course offered through Metro Business College in Missouri that consists of 105 credit hours and 100 externship hours of on the job experience. The program would give me an Applied Science Degree and would administer the CPC exam.  The course is a 6 quarter program and costs $3,125/quarter, for a grand total of $18k.

I worked for several hospitals and clinics in both patient care and clerical positions. I need to make a move quickly as time is running out for me.
I would really appreciate any advice or insight.
thanks,
diane
