CPC is Certified Professional Coder. It is a coding credential issued by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). No formal education is required to take the CPC certification test.

RHIA is Registered Health Informaion Administrator. It is a credential offered by the American Health Information Management Association. The requirements to sit for this certification are much more stringent. Successfully complete the academic requirements, at the baccalaureate level, of an HIM program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).1
