Dr  performs an xray related to a sports injury.  He x-rays each side the good side as a comparison and the injured side for view of injury.
Can he bill for the comparison?  If so is there a code or modifier that should be used.

I am an R.T. as well as C.P.C. and when the other side is done for comparison, it should not be billed.  This is routinely done in children when the epiphyses are still open in order to differentiate an epiphyseal line from a fracture.
