Speaker Bio:

Joe serves as an instructor for the Certified Coder Boot Camp® - Original Version (covers physician and outpatient hospital coding). He has extensive coding experience with both physician and facility coding. He has a strong background in evaluation and management auditing as well as compliance. He has put together an internal medical coding audit program for a large Detroit based hospital. In addition to Joe's audit and compliance background he was formally a manager of revenue cycle over thirteen divisions consisting of nearly a half billion dollars of gross patient revenue. He was responsible for all coding and revenue cycle operations.

He has written and contributed to several professional articles that have appeared in E-Perspectives, published by the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors; Justcoding.com, published by HCPro, Inc,; Briefings on APCs, published by HCPro, Inc. He has also given numerous presentations on emergency department coding, coding and billing audits, and coding compliance. He is also an active member on the editorial advisory board for Healthcare Auditing Strategies published by HCPro, Inc.

Joe is accredited as a Certified Professional Coder by the American Academy of Professional Coders. He is also accredited as a Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based by the American Health Information Management Association. He is also accredited as a Certified Internal Controls Auditor by The Institute for Internal Controls. In addition to his professional credentials, Joe also actively serves on the Certified Coding Specialist Construction Committee and Professional Ethics Committee for the American Health Information Management Association.
