I currently work in a doctor's office that uses grant foundations to assist patients with the cost of injectable medications. My question is directly related to Medicaid patients. Is it ethical or legal to submit claims to assistance programs if the patient has no out of pocket responsibility? Generally the amount not covered would be adjusted after Medicaid pays. The assistance programs does state that it is to help patients with medication that they can't afford to pay for, which would not be the case with Medicaid patients. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I'm in very unethical waters, as I am signing patients up for this particular programs.
