Every dental office has its own Usual, Customary and Reasonable fees or UCR fees which are defined as the monetary value assigned to a procedure. The problem is most offices have no idea how to establish an appropriate UCR fee. In order to establish an appropriate UCR fee the office should reference the 2012 National Dental Advisory Service; Comprehensive Fee Report. (www.ndas.com).
The NDAS conducts nationwide surveys with dentists in private practice. The survey compiles data for a relative value analysis to give the most accurate fee listing available to the general public. The fees are broken into a "fee percentile" using seven categories, starting with the 40th percentile and ending with the 95th percentile.
