We have entered the final phases of production of the 2023 SlideRule and have added the preorder page to our online store. The great news here is the first thousand should be shipping at the start of the year.
Everyone knows that the 1995/1997 rules are becoming extinct in slightly more than 2 weeks, which is why so many people have been watching our webinars on the 2023 rules. This should result in medical providers saving more than 45 minutes a day or 180 hours a year on documentation!
You may have thought these were the 2021 rules being adopted for all places of service. No - these are the 2023 rules as they differ in some areas from the 2021 rules. We go into much more detail in our webinars.
The new slide rule will cover:
- Office Visit Codes 99202-99215
- Hospital Visit Codes 99221 - 99233
- Hospital Admit-Discharge Visit Codes 99234 – 99236
- Consultation Codes 99242 - 99255 (Yes - some carriers still pay for consults, as do many workers comp)
- Emergency Room Codes 99281 - 99285 (yes - some call it ED, but that also has another meaning)
- Skilled Nursing Codes 99304 - 99310
- Home Visit Codes 99341 - 99350 (also covering the Assisted Living, Rest Home, Campground, Cruise Ship, Hotel, etc)
The new one also has 2 QR codes that will direct you to:
* Online video on how to use the 2023 E&M Slide-rule; and
* Online tool to help you know which prolonged code(s) to use based on insurance type, new vs established/subsequent, place of service, and time.
As well as the times for each code, our slide rule has the medical decision making elements displayed to make it easy for you to choose between time and MDM. This makes it easy to use, not only for the medical provider to select the appropriate code, but the biller or auditor to verify the documentation.
