Beginning January 1, 2024, providers utilizing time for leveling an office and/or outpatient Evaluation and Management (E/M) service must meet or exceed the minimum threshold total service time. This change for 2024 better aligns with time changes that were already made in 2023 for inpatient settings.
Although a minor change, it is imperative to start letting providers know about the significance of documenting the minimum thresholds of time met or exceeded beginning January 1, 2024. See Table 1.
